Ronda Rousey Beats Bethe Correia in Under Half a Minute

Ronda Rousey is just unstoppable.

Rousey was able to win over Bethe Correia in an amazing 34-second bout last UFC 190. What’s more surprising is that Rousey was able to beat Correia not by an armbar, but at her own game.

The reigning UFC bantamweight champ threw some powerful punches at Correia which had her crashing down the mat. With this, Rousey was able to hold on to her title once again and won against Correia by knockout during the first round.

Rousey, who has now a record of 12-0, admitted that the fight went just like how they wanted it to be.

“It kind of went how we expected it,” she said.

During the fight, Rousey wanted to dominate Correia right away so she rushed out and initiated the striking. The MMA champ threw shots at the brazilian fighter making her wobble while trying to counter the shots. These blows weren’t effective though, because Rousey was ready to finish the fight by showering her with blows coming from left and right. Rousey threw combo shots before finally punching Correia. It all came so fast that the referee had to carry Rousey away from knocked out Correia.

“Instead of trying to force the finish, I decided to overwhelm her with striking first so she’d want to clinch first, and that’s exactly what happened,” the bantamweight champ revealed.

This epic win added to the UFC women‘s bantamweight champ’s record as one of the most amazing fights she had. Just recently, Rousey has defeated her past three opponents in less than a minute. In fact, out of the 12 victories that she had, 11 of them were all during the first round.

Rousey admitted that she had an extra push to defeat Correia when she found out that the brazilian fighter made a joke about suicide; Rousey’s father committed suicide when she was just 8 years old.

“I hope no one brings up my family anymore when it comes to fights. I hope this is the last time,” she said.

Another motivation that Rousey had was about Roddy Piper, who passed away days before the fight took place.

“We lost a good friend yesterday in “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, who gave me permission to use his name as a fighter, so I hope him and my father were watching him tonight,” the champ added.
