Cub Swanson just came off one of his most impressive performances in his entire pro career… He went one-on-one with Doo Ho Choi at UFC 206 in what can arguably be considered the greatest featherweight fight in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) history (full highlights here). With such a performance in hand entering the new year, Swanson will be a marked man among his peers. But SBG (Straight Blast Gym) rising prospect and Conor McGregor’s protege and training partner, Artem Lobov, decided to “reach out” on Twitter and try for a fight with Swanson.
“Cub Swanson or ‘The Korean Superboy’ would be a really good fight,” said Lobov in a recent interview with Severe MMA. “Their last fight was great and I really think I match up well against either of those guys. I really think that would be a good one.”
After catching wind of the call out, which is something he has seen before, Swanson responded in quick fashion via Twitter.
I’ve never liked Artem anyways lol

Lobov fired back.
.@CubSwanson you’ll like me even less after I am done with you

Then Swanson pulled the old “I’m too good for you” card.
At the moment I have my sights set on Aldo or Holloway

It’s nice to see Swanson’s sights set on a featherweight title shot, but he’s going to have to defeat a few more contenders to get there. While Lobov isn’t a top-ranked opponent, he is coming off an impressive win over Team Alpha Male prospect Teruto Ishihara. If Lobov can give Swanson half the fight that “Korean Superboy” did, UFC should give this a real look.
