Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Alhambra |Importance of Black Belts|

black belt jiu jitsu competitor

With UFC and MMA becoming very popular, how do you know where the best place to train BJJ in Alhambra may be?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling martial art that became very popular through UFC and also by being one of the martial arts mixed in to MMA. There are other grappling martial arts that are used as well such as judo and wrestling. Most martial artists however combine BJJ, as the foundation, with parts of judo and wrestling. A master of BJJ that has been taught parts of wrestling and judo can be uncontested on the ground and be a very dangerous opponent if the fight is taken to the ground. A good instructor also has his or her background in a little these.

The best place to train for competitive Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is with a gym that has an instructor that is not only a competitor him or herself,

but one that is a black belt and also has experience with wrestling as well as judo. With wrestling there are bad habits that need to be fixed for Jiu Jitsu. Because of this, sometimes it is in the student’s best interest to learn a little BJJ before wrestling. The same thing goes for Judo as well.

When you are looking for places that you may want to consider training at to become a competitor, always look for information regarding the head instructor.

Many places now opening up are instructors with only a fraction of the training a black belt competitor has. If you are looking to be the best in competitions you need to be trained by the best. Do not settle for anything less than a black belt as a head instructor. Other belts may be acceptable as long as there are one or two head black belt instructors that are monitoring how the lower ranked instructors are training the students. When there are lower rank instructors they usually are in charge of a more beginner sort of class while the black belts are in charge of how those are run but also manage the advanced and competition level training. Always look for information on the head instructor and do not settle for a lower rank head instructor such as a purple belt ranked owner. To be the best train with the best!
