Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) straw-weight champion Carla Esparza has been booked to make her return to action against Randa Markos a the upcoming UFC Fight Night event set for Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on Feb. 19, 2017.
FOX Sports brought word of the matchup earlier today.
And at least one person isn’t happy about it, as Claudia Gadelha took to Instagram shortly after the bout was scheduled to express her displeasure.
So… What’s with the banter?
Gadelha and Esparza originally were set to face each other under the at Invicta FC… On two separate occasions, but one fight was called off after Gadelha suffered a broken nose, with the other going up in smoke after Claudia was forced out with a bacterial infection.
That didn’t stop the two ladies from trying to get a fight going under the UFC banner, as they exchanged shots at each other over social media, which explains “Claudinha’s” frustration at not getting the fight against “Cookie Monster.”
For now, Esparza will look to win her second in a row inside the Octagon, previously taking out Julianna Lima at UFC 197 last April. Perhaps now the former champ can stop selling off her personal items to make ends meet.
As for Gadelha, she will have to look elsewhere for a fight.
