Guess what? The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar has now been suspended from fighting in mixed martial arts (MMA) by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), thanks to a couple of drug tests that scored positive… Just before and just after UFC 200.
Read more on that absolute circus here.
Lesnar, who flunked an out-of-competition exam ahead of his combat sports return, blew up his second drug test — in competition — for the UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) extravaganza, which took place earlier this year in Las Vegas, Nevada.
His attorney, Howard Jacobs, asked an independent drug testing lab to examine both eye and foot creams, which Team Lesnar believes may be responsible for returning traces of clomiphene and clomiphene metabolites, both banned in combat sports.
From MMA Junkie:
“To provide further detail, I am advised that the testing laboratory initially tested an eye medication, which was negative for either clomiphene or clomiphene metabolites. Subsequent testing has been conducted on a foot cream; that testing has included three separate extraction attempts, all of which have failed. A fourth extraction attempt is being made by Korva Labs this week.”
UFC 200 was a busy event, at least in terms of drug testing.
Despite his misstep with United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), Lesnar was able to capture a unanimous decision win over the still-bitter Mark Hunt, before returning to WWE for its recent SummerSlam spectacle last August in Brooklyn, New York.
