Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is extremely competitive when it comes to tournaments. People of all ages are able to compete in various age, weight, and belt groups. Sometimes however if there aren’t enough kids in a particular group then some children may be bumped up or down depending on the situation. In many of these situations our students have been bumped into the next weight or belt level to compete. No matter what situation our kid’s competition team is in they do their best and do very well.
Many of our kid’s competition team have been with us for a couple years and are seeing their hard work pay off in competitions. Some parents have even begun training because of their kids. One of the kids that have been putting in hard work is Jobe. This little beast has been with us for around three years and really puts his heart into his training.

Little Jobe doesn’t just do this by himself either! No, his sister has been around just as long and has also been working hard on the competition scene. In fact their father has also been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu so this is a family that trains together! Delilah is also a force to be reckoned with and she works hard in training with her younger brother. There are many of our kids and not just these two that work extremely hard in their training. They truly enjoy the martial art and have been working hard for a long time so that they can go out there and chase some medals. Here are some of Delilah’s competition highlights to show just how hard working of a student she is as well!

As a martial art, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is great for kids because of a variety of reasons. One of the things is clear to all and that’s goal setting. This is something that kids need to learn early on in order to achieve anything they want in life. The kids set a goal and they go and work hard for it. That’s our entire kids competition team and for the kids not yet on the team then it may become one of their goals to be on it and then they work hard for it. The children also become more disciplined especially those in the competition team. It is important to be disciplined because not everyone is going to win every single time. It is even more important to have discipline because of the danger of the martial art and keeps students safe.
One of the greatest reasons for children to take part in training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is that it keeps them out of the house. Too many children these days are home after school doing nothing, playing games, or watching television. Training gives the children a reason to be out of the house taking part in a healthy activity. Its an activity that gives the kids goals and something to have fun with other than games and television, which is rare these days.
